CD Audio & Data Software for DVD Burner

I just completed replacing my CD-RW drive with the new Pioneer A06 burner. A negative consequence of this is my Adaptec DirectCD software does not support this new drive for writing audio & data files to CD-RW disks.

I know this is a little off the topic of Vegas, but what software are people using to write to CD-RWs? Roxio replaced Adaptec's DirectCD software, but Roxio only offers a Easy Creator CD & DVD. Since I have DVD Architect, I have no use for Roxio's DVD authoring software. I just want an inexpensive software application that supports this new multiformat drive for writing data & audio files to a CD. Thanks.

No question, use NERO. I'm relatively certain it supports the A06.

I belive Nero would work. You can get it for around $15 on e-bay or Half.com (where i got mine). Nero will do almost anything, and will work in Win9x, ME, 2k, or XP. Will burn both DVD and CD. InCD is it's CD-RW software, and when you buy nero you get a free (download) copy of Nero Express (which is a VCD/DVD creation program). I've been using it since version 4, and you get free updates between whole version numbers.

Thanks guys for the great recommendation. Once you mentioned Nero, I remembered I saw that name on the CD label that was included with the A06. I installed Nero from disk and I'm now writing to a CD on the DVD burner. Nowhere in Pioneer's documentation does it mention it includes Nero or any CD burning software. In fact, the Pioneer documention is basically worthless.

Before I posted my original message I called Pioneed tech support with the same question. The answer I got was to contact Microsoft for an "update" so I can burn CDs. Never did the rep mention that the software was included with the drive! When you first insert the Pioneer supplied CD, the setup begins for installing Ulead video software, which I cancelled and assumed that it only contained Ulead software. Lesson learned.

I'm still a bit confused regarding writing to a CD-RW in the A06 drive. With my old CD-RW drive, I was able to treat it just like a hard disk drive and write to it from other applications such as Quicken for backup purposes. Now it appears that the only way I can write to it is with Nero. Does this make sense or am I missing something again?

The functionality of mounting your CDRW type drive like a hard or floppy drive was probably supplied by Easy CD Creator. Since that software doesn't support your new drive, you've lost that functionality.

I'm assuming you're not using Windows XP. If you were, then Windows itself should be able to do that as well.

Nero INCD will support CDRW mode

Dasio, Chienworks, thanks for your comments. I'm downloading InCD right now. This is exactly what I need.
