CD burning recommendations

I saw an earlier thread about CD Architect being discontinued. I recently purchased Acid Pro 3 which comes with Vegas Audio LE and Sound Forge XP. I thought that one of these would be able to burn to CD, but I guess I was mistaken.

My question is which software would people suggest to use to be able to crossfade and slice tracks? And would you create a file in any of these three programs to then use with other software? Do you create one large 650mb wav file and then let another program cut it up?

Also, don't suggest CD Architect because I have a new unit that just came out recently so I doubt it would work. It's a BUSlink portable USB 4x4x20 CD-RW. I love it, however it doesn't show up in any product support listings. I have the OEM of Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4 and can't get it to work in Win2000, and it barely works in WinME.

Thanks for any help, I would really appreciate it.

From Roxio:

About High-Speed Recorders: The burn engine in Easy CD Creator 5 has been redesigned to support enhanced performance, including support for the new high-speed recorders. If you need support for a new high-speed recorder that is not supported in Easy CD Creator 4, you will need to purchase an upgrade to version 5.

THIS IS NOT AN UPGRADE but a full price purchase.

I have EasyCD 3.5 which claimed to support NT4 which was borderline at best.

There is a page listing all the numerous things that versions prior to 5 don't support, but I cna't find it right now.

I'm loathe to buy yet another version of this software (it also has a known W2K bug).

I'm looking for an alternative but Nero has a W2K bug as well. Any suggestions?

The BUSlink CD-RW works but is flaky when working with Easy CD Creator 4.02s (OEM version). I haven't tried Nero yet. I wrote BUSlink and they said users have no problem with either Roxio or Nero. I also wrote those two companies and Roxio said BUSlink is not the actual maker of the unit. I've also seen the exact same piece from a company called Portable in a UK magazine. No response yet from Nero. Are there any suggestions?

By saying it didn't work with "anything", I meant that it isn't listed anywhere on either program's guaranteed to be supported page. Also, I'm not sure just who makes the drivers for these things but I can't even boot in 2000 with my CD-RW hooked up. Funny that it claims 2000 compatibility and not ME, yet it works in ME and not 2000. Typical. Thank god I have a dual-booting machine.

Check the CD Architect forum on this site for many more ideas. You may also want to check out my page at www.rixware.com/cdarchitect to see how you can continue using CDA with a new (unrecognized) drive.

Good luck.

Wow, thanks RixWare, that looks like a great page that I'm sure would come in handy for lots of people. Unfortunately I have an external USB CD-RW drive so I don't think it is listed as either IDE or SCSI? I could be wrong on this. Also I don't have CD Architect to begin with so I wouldn't know where to look for it. I am however giving in and getting Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 just because I need to get this to work soon. However in the future any other suggestions would be welcome.
