CD Drive Recognition

CD Architect is not recognizing my primary CD drive! It recognizes my two external drives,
including an HP CD R. I can easily go in and add it under SCSI 0, but it seems odd that this
occurs. Also, it is inconvenient because I have to re-add it each time I run CD Architect.
Thanks for any help you can provide. Richard

Richard,

CD Architect does not support all CD devices. CD-Rs we support are on our Supported listand those should be automatically detected under Select Drive, provided you have the latest update from our Download area. Or you can try one of our generic drivers such as ATAPI MMC compatible
or SCSI MMC compatible under Advanced in Select Drive. There is no guarantee this will work for drives we cannot test and realistically we cannot test all CD-Roms for compatibility-there are 1000s! If the drive conforms to standard MMC commands, it can be used to Read Audio or
will be automatically selected if it is one we have tested.
For CD-ROMs, this includes SCSI CD-ROMs from Sony, NEC and
Plextor.
Our Supported CD Devices list is available on our site in
the Products section, CD Architect Page.
I hope this helps.

Tom,

Thanks for your reply. The most surprising thing is that the CD ROM drive is a standard Sony (SCSI) drive and that it shows
up in the CD Architect "add drive" menu. While I can certainly appreciate the fact that you cannot test every drive, it seems like
it would show up as some sort of "Type 1 SCSI drive." Forgive any ignorance on my part!

One additional question: When I try to extract a track from a regular audio CD, either in my HP CD-R or my Plextor, I always
get an error message that relates to recording (like buffer underrun, etc.). Any ideas? I'll be glad to give you the exact
message, but basically, CD Architect acts like I'm trying to record when all I "click" is extract audio. Once I go throught the part
about adding my Sony CD drive, I can extract a track without any problems.

Thanks again for your help.
