CD/DVD Burning Software

I'm having trouble burning photo images onto CDs and I'm thinking the problem is that my CD/DVD read/write drive is out of whack. I want to replace it anyway because it can only handle DVD+ discs. At the same time, I'm wondering if I should get a better CD/DVD burning program. Currently I use Roxio EasyCDCreator 5.

I gather many of the Forum participants use Nero. I read the reviews of Nero 6 Ultra Ediion on the Amazon website. Most commentors like the program very much but a few comment that it is buggy (compared to previous editions) and incorporates a lot of superfluous added features. Is Nero the program I should be buying?

P.S.: Thanks to grisetti and gogiants for your helpful comments on my inability to open my camcorder from MovieStudio. I've been out of the loop for two weeks with eye surgery but am now back in business and am following through on your comments.

If you purchase a new DVD burner, it will come with burning software. Start with that application, as it will probably work just fine for everything you need it to do. If not, you could consider Nero, but I, for one, would not race to purchase it unless I absolutely needed it.
