CD-R not being seen by Vegas

After many years of never using the function I had to make a CD.

Vegas, 12 & 16 does not see my internal drive LG (HL-DT-ST-BD-RE BH10LS38) as a CD player / reader only as a DVD
If I go to Tols > Burn Disk > DAO, no drive is seen, if I go to extract audio, no drive is seen

But if I go to Tools> Burn Disk> DVD it sees the drive
I have plugged a USB Asus (SDRW-08D2S-U) DVD/CD drive in and it sees that perfectly.

I had something similar with DVD-A not seeing the DVD drive , but found the cure for that, Preferences> Burning> unchecked Use Legacy disk drivers, tried that in Vegas to no avail.

Checked the drivers for both DVD/CD units and they are the same "cdrom.sys"

Any one had similar or know the cure / issue

Until a solution is found, you could just export your timeline to a 44.1khz 16 bit microsoft wav file, then use freeware like cd burner xp to burn an audio cd.

Last December, when the PC went down (I was using my laptop as backup), I went out and purchased the Asus drive for about £20 and that works Ok, but annoying to get it out, overtime I need this.
