hi,

i just installed the full (not demo) version of VV3.0c. whenever i click on the cd settings tab in the preferences dialog, my computer reboots. i get a quick blue screen before it's completely shut down.

here is some of my computer information:
amd athlon xp 2000+
abit kr7a-133
nvidia geforce4 ti4600
sb audigy w/ firewire
asus 16x dvd
tdk 24/10/40x cd-rw
windows xp pro

this also happened when i had the demo version installed. i uninstalled and cleaned the registry before installing the full version. same problem. my cd drives are working fine, i can burn cds, and dma is enabled on all drives.

any help would be appreciated. thanks.

same here. I did try support but go the usual make sure the latest drivers are installed etc.

It will succeed some times but most of the time does an immediate reboot.

VV is the only app that does this on my system.

Sonic support - is this a recognized problem? Any help you can offer?

Thanks, Paul

please try downloading an installing the CD Architect 5 beta from: http://www.sonicfoundry.com/download/step2.asp?DID=409

Can you burn with this? If not, please post here and also send system details to: CDArchBeta@sonicfoundry.com.

I have turned off hardware acceleration (right click on background/properies/advanced/accelration to none) and have succesfully looked at the prefs option 6-10 times.

It "appears" to be Ok - Whats the connection?

I use a NVidia GeForce2 MX with Tv Out.

Thanks, Paul

i have turned my hardware acceleration off and it works fine too. i am also interested why that is happening and if there is a fix. turning off hardware acceleration makes my video slow.

i have a nvidia geforce4 ti4600 128mb and using driver version 30.87.

thanks.

Try setting the hardware accelleration to something other than full (like 75%)- often that solves the problem and still gives you fast draws. Worth trying I think.

I'll try it - thanks

You seem to know what the problem is, can you explain?

The windows update has just posted the NVidia 4.0.XX release and the problem still exists.

Wierd thing is if I now click on the GEFroece tab within the advanced setting it will not display i.e the whole property box disappears. Not your problem I know - but any idea what gives?

Cheers, PAW

I have tried reducing the setting but the only thing that appears to work is setting it to 0.

You seem to know the issue - please explain?

i set the hardware accel. to 0. then fired up VV and clicked the cd settings tab. i set my burn drive, then closed VV. i then went back and turned my hardware accel. back to full. i fired VV up again and can now click on the cd settings tab with no problems. this might work for you guys also. it appears that VV is happy and i have full hardware accel.

the nvidia 4.0.xx driver isn't showing up for me in windows update. i'm using xp pro and have a geforce ti4600. what are you using?

I have tried turning the acceleration on and off with no change.

If it is off/none its ok as soon as I turn it on the system will reboot when choosing the Options->CD prefs

SonicEPM, this seems to be a known problem - what are my options? What is the problem?
