CD text script?

I've read a few posts where Roger 74 had been working on a script that would allow you to use V4 and a script to be able to write CD text. Does anyone know if anyone's successfully wrote a script yet to do this? I haven't used the script function yet, but am quite interested in using it, if I can infact get the CDtext information on a disc with Vegas. Currently, I have to use Nero for CD text, which doesn't help me much when most of my editing is done in Vegas when assembling mastered tracks together for the master CD.

Thanks,
Red

I dont get it. Where would it put the text? Something that pops up on a PC? or a viewscreen of a CD player? Or for karaoke? Sounds like interesting stuff

Pipeline: Some of the new CD players actually read CD title and track text and display it. My new car stereo (which also plays MP3 files) does this. I've found that Easy CD Creator has an option flag that writes this text data to the disc. It's pretty cool.
Don't know how to get Vegas to do this or if it can. (Not much help for Reds original message.)

Pipe,
There's basically 2 fields that get displayed for each track. The first field is the CD title/Artist, the next field is the song title. The CDtitle/Artist remains the same throughout the entire CD. As the tracks progress the song title get's updated. You can think of it as extra information that goes along with the CD Track ID. It's pretty much identical to what you see when playing an .MP3 on windows media player minus the bitrate information. If you have a car radio that is able to receive RDS, and the radio station broadcast RDS information, the radio station will broadcast the CDtext information. Very useful, when someone is traveling down the road and hear a song they like, and wonder who performs it. You can look at the RDS information and see the artist/CD title and song name. Now this all depends on if the radio station broadcasts RDS information and choose to send the CDtext messages. Now when you're listening to a CD in your vehicle, this information will also be displayed from the CD. This information is also used for Satellite radio broadcast stations. So basically, if you want someone to know who you are very easily, you want to have CD text information put on your CD. Sonic Foundry has been dragging their feet on adding this feature to any of their products, but I can tell you from the hardware development side that RDS and CDtext is becoming a standard feature within the automotive industry.

Vegas allows you to use scripts, which I'm not familiar with, but basically it allows you to write software code that will interface with Vegas. There's been talk of some users working on a script that will allow you to write the CDtext information. Right now, the only way to do it, is use most other CDR software programs other than Sonic Foundry. Nero has this feature. Now if you gave me all the features of Nero, within CD architect or Vegas, you would have the best mastering/CD assembly program on the planet.

SF needed features on VEGAS and CD ARCHITECT: CDTEXT and Multi-burner support ala Nero.

its a funny thing technology

Most of us on this forum work on the cutting edge of a LOT of areas in technology every day, yet we miss a lot too. I didnt know about regular CD players having screens like that, and I was amazed as hell a few months ago, when I went to a movie theatre for the first time in probably ten years at the self flushing toilets...blew my mind

Excuse the late reply. I'm browsing the result of a search I'm doing on CD Text. I generally compile and burn my cd's from WaveLab because it is my preferred audio editor. However, I do all my audio assembly (and, of course video) from within Vegas.

This morning, I was just messing around with Vegas' cd assembly function and was blown away at how much more automated (ie fast) it is than Wavelab. My excitement was blunted somewhat when I couldn't find a way to edit/write cd text. Sorry to discover that my assumption is valid - Vegas doesn't support cd text.

Oh, and, Pipeline, if you were blown away by self flushing toilets, you'll be brought back to earth in total security when you try the toilets at O'Hare. Not only to they flush, but, there is a self contained paper dispenser that covers the seat. It changes with each patron, and doesn't fall off into the hopper just before your tush hits the seat. Clever, if I do say so myself.
