Does Vegas Video have the same user interface as that good-ole CDA? You know, the click and drag with wave files magically appearing above...Moveable track index markers, red book, PQ editing, etc... If so, I might just have to upgrade for that alone.
Yes it does. They worked on this very hard for v3.0 to make people like you and myself very happy. I was fortunate enough to help out with the pre-beta testing and tried to make sure 3.0 had all the features that CDA had. I'm only disappointed with one thing, that's the markers you lay down don't have the actual track number on it, like in CD architect, but it does put a label next to the top marker with the Track number automatically.
I removed CDA and SF4.5 because now I just use Vegas. I don't know if we will see any improvements to the DAO when VA3 comes out, but we'll see. Over all they get my vote.
Improvements to the DAO? Does this mean there are parts of the CDA implementation you don't like? If so, what? I assume it does disc at once, and I assume the visual interface is just like adding tracks in Vegas, only stereo. If you click and drag additional files, is pause time automatically added? It would be cool to see the actual interface for the "CDA technology" in their ads.
The CDA-like features in VV3 are great - thankyou Sonic and the beta testers! - Unfortunately the s/w is not compatible with the latest Plextor drives (EIDE-24/10/40) as I have found to my cost. I am waiting for either Sonic or Plextor to own up to the fault and fix this - other-wise sales of both will suffer...
"Improvements to the DAO?"
Don't get me wrong I really like that SF added the CDA features to VV3 I wish they added CD text and I was hoping that it would be the first software based CDR software to record 24bit audio. I think Rednroll had a very good one about locking the P/Q to wave files.
