"Censorship" vs. getting real

I was REALLY pissed off to find a fake post in this forum.
Luckily, whoever did it (I have a couple of clues) was
ignorant enough to spell both my name and my e-mail adress
wrong. The reason escapes me, as the post itself was pretty
benign, but out of sheer principle childishness like that
should not be tolerated.

Just how long can a person be allowed to terrorize a forum
before the forum regulator should start taking steps? I
think we all have given all opinions a voice, and as long
as the discussion is on the topic intended by the forum, I
think deleting posts are no good. Everyone are entitled to
give their opinions voice.

But let's get real: This sucks. Every other time someone
posts a honest question, quicker than you might
say "rhinoceros", appears a pert reply, virtually spewing
out accusations and plain *bullshit* which, in addition to
pissing people off, also confuse the readers of the forum.
I think there is vast justification for clearing out
nuisances from a forum NEVER intended for ego boosting or
hen-picking.

I mean, come on. A person who changes his username twice a
day, edit and delete his own posts and then accuses SF of
doing it, write fake messages and generally pester
registered users with total crap is not a constructive
resource to the forum. He should seek another way of
dealing with his personal problems.

That being said, I have never objected to a civilized
discussion of Vegas' features or lack thereof. I have
nothing against people not in favour of Sonic Foundry
products, I enjoy constructive arguments in the spirit of
seeking a way to improve a product, especially one so
promising and useful as Vegas is to me. But all these posts
reeking of essence of arrogance is really getting to me.
It's a total insult, and insults are not part of
constructive critisism. Insults are the childish defence of
a person run out of valid arguments.

Anyway. I think that the steps taken by the moderators of
this forum has been more or less justified. There has to be
limits to how far beyond the set boundaries of the forum
its posts should be allowed to go.

Hi Walterius,

The posting history may be a bit harder to hack, so you might want to
click on the name and check out the posting history before you
believe that a message is from who you think it is.

It's a shame its come to this, but there is always a jackass around
who will slobber in the public trough.

At least some of us now know what it is like to have a name
like "John Smith". :)

KAC ...
