Center channel from camcorder mixed to stereo WMV?

I have Vegas Movie Studio Platinum, and have used the sony blutooth wireless mic with my sony camcorder to record my kids voices -- the mic was set to record the 5.1 center channel so that the stereo mics on the camera would also get ambient audio.

I've imported the files into VMSP -- in 5.1 surround mode -- and can clearly see the center channel audio there, distinct from the L/R fronts. However, when I render to WMV, VMSP just drops the center channel.

What do I need to do to get it mixed to the Front L/R?

thanks for any help1

I don't believe Vegas supports 5.1 WMV

I don't actually want 5.1 WMV -- I want stereo WMV but I want the center channel content to get mixed into the stereo mix when the video is rendered.

Do I need to (somehow??) duplicate the center audio track as a normal stereo audio track? (if so how do I do that?)

If I change to a "stereo" mix, does Vegas just throw away the center channel from the camcorder (I think it does) -- is there a way to make it "mix in" the center?

thx

Solo your center track, then Tools->Render to New Track.
That should do it for you. It goes quickly.

Are you sure Vegas isn't already downmixing the 5.1 center audio for you during render to stereo? Haven't tried it with WMV, but it works for everything else I've tried.

Right click on the word "Center" and select "Front" in the track left area. The audio from the center channel should now be included in the front channels when you render to a stereo WMV template.
