"Certificate Claim for Sonic Foundry"??? SPAM!!!

Probably like everyone in this forum, I get tired of weading through all my emails, to find 1 worthy message, while deleting all the other 50 spaming garbage. Today, I received a message from Ramada Hotels with the title "Certificate Claim for Sonic Foundry". I start to wonder, how did my email ever get associated with "Sonic Foundry?" The only thing I can figure is Sonic Foundry is using our registration information and selling it. What a let down. Has anyone else received any email like this?

I hope this isn't true. :-(

Brian,

To my knowledge, Sonic Foundry only shares your e-mail address with interested third parties if you specify when registering a product or creating a user profile. Sometimes it's enabled by default when registering, other times it's not. Either way, I haven't gotten spam via my SoFo registration (to my knowledge) since I've not opted-in, although I do like getting SoFo promotions and such. Sonic Foundry seems to be the only company I've dealt with that bothers to differentiate between the two.

Regards,
Nick LaMartina

Lol,
I guess I must be the lucky winner, because I don't even check the checkbox to "notify me of updates and special promotions". Maybe I missed one in registering the product in a hurry.

Hello,

I missed one once too, and I think if you reregister another time it should "opt you out" so to speak from 3rd party mail.

See ya, Rockit
