Peter, you had me worried as I use the numeric 8 & 2 keys a lot.
I just checked and they still function as expected for me.

Thanks for the reply Mike.

I can't believe that Sony allowed me to download a special version of V9 with this feature, so, armed by your experience I shall work on the theory that I am an some other "mode", or have something activated in Version 9 without knowing how or what.

I only started using V9 this morning - I was determined to finish a project I started in V8, but I got fed up with frames and thumbnails turning green, so I took a deep breath and opened it in V9. I also move events vertically a lot, but for some reason Numeric 8 and 2 are zooming the timeline in and out instead of the usual vertical nudge..

Back to the project for some investigation ........

Peter,

I confirm what Mike's said - it's still the old good way here...

AMD TR 2990WX CPU | MSI X399 CARBON AC | 64GB RAM@XMP2933  | 2x RTX 2080Ti GPU | 4x 3TB WD Black RAID0 media drive | 3x 1TB NVMe RAID0 cache drive | SSD SATA system drive | AX1600i PSU | Decklink 12G Extreme | Samsung UHD reference monitor (calibrated)

Solved!!!!!

I went back into V8 and got the same behaviour - tried, this that and the other with no change ... THEN ..... found that the "Num Lock" key had been accidentally toggled to OFF.

Panic over - thanks for the responses, Mike and Piotr.

Been there done that WAY too many times.
Glad you got it figured out!!

Yes, and the fact that it happened to coincide with the first time I've used V9 obscured the obvious!
