Double the track then apply Pitch shifter to both, one being "raised" one octave higher and the other track being "lowered" one octave lower. Adjust volumes. Maybe that'll make a point where to start from?

If you have access to a ring modulator , you can get some great vocal effects. I've not seen a software version though. Maybe someone else knows of one.

Ever thought of using the windows Text to Speech thingy. Type in your text and then the computer voice reads it back to you. You should be able to record it pretty easily.
