Changing Multiple Images at Once

action0335 wrote on 5/27/2008, 10:30 AM
Sorry for the Newbie question but I looked hard for this answer. I have laid in over 300 images and the movie comes out longer than I want. What is the easiest way to shrink the over all length of the movie, keep the image times consistent, but without having to adjust each image down one by one?

thank you very much.

You can import the images as an image sequence, and then speed up the clip in the timeline (it will show up as a single clip, not as individual pics).

click on the track, and hit CTRL+A. This will select all the still images. Then put your music on the audio track. Go to the last still image, right hand side, hold down CTRL and drag until you snap to the end of your music. Now all still images length will be adjusted, and your slideshow will end together with the music.

Almost, but one crucial step is missing. After selecting all the images press g to group them. Without this the ctrl-drag step will only affect the last image.

Exactly, which is why I said that the images must be imported as a sequence and not as separate images.

Not too many people will have their images named IMAGE 1, IMAGE 2, IMAGE 3, etc. which is required to import a sequence.

The import sequence also doesn't help at all for images already on the timeline.

Well, if the user is not willing to make all this work, then the user should file a feature request to Vegas and request full projects and full timelines to have a common pan/crop setting and sample rate. I know that I need that for my music video clip work, where the whole project is slowed down 25%.

On Vegas Pro you might be able to get away with it if you know how to program and write a script.

Or, select all the images and group them. Then Ctrl-drag works perfectly fine.

Long story but she doesn't need music. So if I just am trying to get a bunch of images downsized universally I tried to click CTRL+A (seletct all), then hold down control and slide the last one back but it only moves the last one.

After selecting them all you have to press G to group them. Then Ctrl-Drag will change them all together.
