Changing Open Captions to Subtitles

I have a project which, because it started in DVDA1 days, provided optional captions by having two versions on the DVD, one with, one without ...

Now that DVDA2 has the ability, I am considering converting the on-screen captions to DVD subtitles. I understand this will mean copying the text from many many text events to regions.

Before I undertake this, the big question is how well the conversion might go, particularly as regards Font, Size, Outline, Colour and formatting into two lines.

I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who's dabbled in DVD subtitles.

Thanks.

Peter

The region names are exported from Vegas to a plain text file and then imported from that text file into DVDA. Neither region names in Vegas, nor the intermediary text file would contain any formatting whatsoever. All formatting would be done in DVDA.

So, the question you may be asking yourself now is, "Should I even bother using Vegas for this?" My answer, "I dunno."

I'd recommend checking on the Vegas -Video or Vegas - Scripting forum to see if anyone has a script for extracting / copying text from the media generator events (is that what you used before?). I have a feeling, though, that this text can't be accessed by script.

Thanks Rob

I think I'll try a mini - project with two or three captions and see how the process goes ...
