Changing the default fade out on video

steliosfan wrote on 3/23/2018, 2:09 AM

Dear all,

I was wondering if there is a way that I can change the default fade out on videos, as per the print screen that I'm attaching, to the first one.

Its really difficult for me to change it on every single clip every single time (apart from the fact that the right click to change it every time lags and its not always responding.)

Thank you in advance

Yeah, I thought I read this at some point: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/change-fade-type-default--104744/

Ditto - don't work.

Thank you for your reply. The internal preferences change doesn't' affect anything :(

I can change the "New Video Event Opacity" (under external control & automation) to "fast" or alternatively via internal at eDefEnvVideoASRType but then the cross-fades between clips are affected as well, creating a flash-like transition as the composite level rises (for fast) or falls (for slow) slightly at the midpoint.

Any thoughts ?

Yes, that is possible. "Default FX Parameter Automation Fade Type" specifies this.

Desktop: Ryzen R7 2700, RAM 32 GB, X470 Aorus Ultra Gaming, Radeon RX 5700 8GB, Win10 2004

Laptop: T420, W10, i5-2520M 4GB, SSD, HD Graphics 3000

Thank you. No that doesn't change anything

I can change it to "fast" (via eDefEnvVideoASRType or preferences) so it can be the default as my attachment above, but unfortunately this will create the "flash" effect when 2 clips are xfading.

What i need is the "fast" fade in fade out with a normal transition between clips.

I understand. Have you tried the Transition Envelope/s. They are great Controls for this.

Yes. Thank you :)

However the reason behind "default" is when you have hundred of clips of, let's say a wedding party with just people dancing, and you want the clips between them to have a normal transition while the fade in fade out to be the "fast, 1st option".

I don't understand why something so simple and logical cannot be changed without breaking something else (i.e. the flash effect appears, as I mentioned before) and we must have the defaults set by magix.

Last but not least, the right click to change the fade, sometimes (almost always) is not responsive and needs at least 5 clicks, on both of my machines, with clean installs. This is a bug.

Use the option Editing/Quick Properties/Fades Transitions in Vegasaur
