Chapter end action

dt1940 wrote on 3/25/2012, 6:47 PM
I'm using DVD 5.0.
I have one mpg movie and would like to:
1. Play the entire movie.
2. Set menu/chapters and when the clip for the menu/chapter is finished I would like to go the main menu and not to the next menu/chapter on the mpeg.
So far it seems that there is now way.
Am I missing something?
Thanks for you help.

After looking at more forum titles, I think I have found a solution.
1. Use multiple occurrences of the one mpg and set in/out points for each "menu/scene" item.

You would only need two complete occurrences: one as a single tiltle file and the other as a series of files for each chapter (actually, separate titles, but the viewer will never know).

Peter,

You don't need to make a series of titles. You use the same file and create multiple instances (which does not add any to the size of the footprint on the disk). Then on each instance, set an IN and OUT point for each segment you want to play from that PLAY Button. It doesn't even have to be a chapter mark.

Whatever is easiest, I guess. My way would be more straightforward to me.

Dave T2,

Not sure what you mean by instances.
How do you create an instance in DVDS?
Thanks

It is explained in the manual fairly well. But in short, Import your video, then import it again for as many times as you need. As long as you import the identical thin (audio and video) it will actually only import the physical media once, but it will create mulitiple entries (instances) of the video that you then use to create individual chapter plays/returns.
