Chapter numbers not shown in DVD player

I have made a couple of DVDs each with a link to a long video clip and several links to chapter points in the long clip. When I play the DVD in my player, the chapter numbers do not change. They player LED readout always shows chapter 1.

Is there a way to get DVD A to build a DVD which will cause the player to display increasing chapter numbers?

Thanks.

I've noticed this too. On my player (Sony NS715P) the time display is fine, but the chapter number is not showing at all on DVD's authored with DVD-A. The chapter stops themselves work fine, so it's only a display issue.

That's exactly the same behavior I'm getting.

If I understand the referenced discussion, DVDs burned with DVDA will show chapters and times if the single DVD contains a single program chain. This has not been true for me and it also conflicts with other advice I have received that I must have multiple program chains if I want the back button to return to the submenu from which a program was started (rather than than the main menu.)

Hand editing the video_ts.ifo file is a bit beyond what I am willing to do to achieve what should be ordinary behavior. I hope this is on the list of things to fix in DVDA.
