There is no way to actually make the DVD player go into a pause mode, you can only simulate it via the DVD itself.

You could create a black menu with an invisible button (or buttons) that when selected goes to the next chapter/video file. You would have to create a separate video file for each "chapter" (as you cannot current set an end action for individual chapters in DVDA). DVDA allows you to have up to 36 buttons per menu, so you could create a menu with up to 36 invisible buttons, and the end action for each video points to a different button on the menu. When the user presses play, the button will be selected

I actually had to use DVD studio Pro to get this done and it was pretty easy.
With DVD studio pro 4 you can program the DVD to pause after each chapter a pre determined amount of time (in seconds) or to have it wait an infinite amount of time until you press play.
This is so dang handy as it makes the DVD way more interactive. you don't always have to go back to a menu. it just plays, then sits there waiting for your input.
I think Sony need to implement this feature in DVD Architect.
