chapters freezing

Hi
I`ve been using DvDarchitect for some time with no problems at all.Suddenly with no apparent reason the DvDs i make have a major problem. When going to chapter selection and choose a chapter it plays the sound of the movie at the chapter`s position but the video isn`t showing and it stucks on the scene selection menu and generaly the DvD stucks.I can hear the sound but i can`t press anything i have to stop it and play it from the begining.I have two buttons at the first menu page. One is start and the second is scenes selection. If i choose start it plays ok but if i press next chapter stucks. In the preview mode the dvd respondes ok.After i render it but not saving to DvD but playing from the HDD via Powerdvd makes this problems. So it`s not a problem of Nero or the media.I`m saving the dar files and reusing them for saving time.I only change the corresponding link. The dar files that i use where rendered in the past ok.I deleted the scene selection and made a second page and copied the chapters link the result was the same. The Structure of the DvD is:1st/One video for dvd start(companys logo)- 2nd/menu page-two buttons, one is start and the second scene selection-3rd/start button links to a logo and then plays a slideshow and then plays the video, end action is back to main menu-4th/scene selection, the main`s video only chapters. The videos are either tif images or m2v with the corresponding sound in ac3 format(stereo). The menus have backgound audio of around 40sec in ac3 format(stereo). The output i choose for the dvd is Pal720x576 and sound ac3 stereo.I`ll say it again i have been making perfect dvds with all these settings in the past. Also i must mention i use win2k sp1 and i encoded the video with procoder.I use DvD architect 2.0b

So you are recycling the same .dar file over and over again? Just replacing the media files? If nothing else has changed my first guess would be that maybe the .dar is somehow corrupted. The best way to check this out would be to make the same project from scratch.

It sounds like you have a pretty simple menu structure so this shouldn't be too inconvenient.

Thanks for your reply.I`ll check it out later today to see if what you`re saying is correct.

No,corrupted dar file isn`t the problem.I`ve Made a new menu from scratch. The same thing happened.I thought maby was a problem of the structure.I tried many combinations.I`ve puted some videos outside of the menu tree under the introductory video,no result.I`ve deleted the scene selection menu and created a sub menu with links to the chapters,no result.I made a submenu with multiple instances of the main movie linked to specific chapters,no result.Although in DvD architect in preview mode the dvd works fine after the extraction(rendering) the result is that the chapters freeze. The only chapter that works is the first one which is in the beging of the movie. If i press to go to the next one,the picture freezes but the sound countinues normally.Meaning it plays the sound from the next chapter.I burned one dvd like that and tested it in a panasonic standalone dvd-ram(recorder) and it makes this problem after in a sony standalone dvd recorder it doesn`t start at all.Only in a pioneer dvd recorder with HD (model 5100) plays normally. But pioneer will play almost anything. It`s a problem of compatibility.Somehow during the rendering it corrupt`s the structure.I don`t know what to do.I`ve been working 6 hours to solve the problem and i`m not working on my main job which is video editing.HELP

Why are you burning from Nero when you can Render, prepare and burn directly on DVDA? If the preview works OK, then check this out. Keep everything Sony. I'll run a test of your problem and reply again. Are your Inpoints and Outpoints for each title of the chapter set correctly?

Yes the In and Outs are ok.I double checked everything for mistakes, non so ever.i`m burning with nero because DvDarchitect is very slow with burning.I have a 8x BTC drive and it takes ages to burn the disc.i allready consume to much time preparing the DvD.15 minutes compressing the sound(thus mean leveling it)and 15 minutes rendering the menus with architect if i add another 25-30 min. for burning, it is too much. The editing of a 45min video takes me only 2hours.But I`ll try burning with architect and let you know of the result.

Well, today i made some more tests. With the project i was working i had no luck. What ever i did, resulted in failure.I got tired of this and tried another video that i had finished editing. The menu was built perfectly. No problem at all!
Then i got an idea,I made a menu using the video that produced the problematic menu with DvD architect 1.0d.The same problem happened!
Finally i inserted the video without chapters and builted it.It works ok.After the video finishes it goes to root menu.So it is a problem with some videos. It happened again one time in the past but then after changing the structure of the menu it worked ok.I must say i use the procoder 2 encoder and i haven`t change anything in it`s settings.Except the field order, which i do it everytime. The project i made today was different only in size/minutes.
