Forget about used. Go to bhphotovideo.com and buy a Canon ZR40. Current price is $399. I have the ZR45MC which can take crappy still pictures....get the 40...you'll love it.

I tend to agree. I can't IMAGINE buying something as delicate as a DV Camcorder SIGHT-UNSEEN. People are just not as careful as you and I, and you will undoubtedly find one of them before you find me. I keep my stuff because it IS still good.

Sony makes a wide range of models, too. Don't forget them, or Panasonic (third choice).

Buying used cameras is like buying used underware. You don't know what you're getting.

Ok sorry, its getting late, that's best I can do at humor right now.

You can check ebay for posters that are selling older equipment which is unopened. I bought an older Sony D8 camera for a great price and it was new in the box. I agree with everyone else... do not buy a used digital camcorder.

"Does anyone know of any good web sites where i might be able to pick up a cheap used DV camera for a good price. How much should i pay for a used DV camera, I just need it for a beginner camera. "

Might try: http://buy.returnbuy.com/store/control/main - deals of course vary. You might also find something refurbished if you look hard enough - a camera that was returned under warranty and fixed, sometimes with a warranty of it's own.

If you were looking for something higher end, I think some local shops still take trade-ins & stand behind them to some extent. Some auction sites offer options where you can return something, but you're on your own a week or so after you recieve whatever if it breaks.
