Cheapest way to get VHS to Vegas

Well...I'm a newbie to vegas, and I still don't own my own camera, or much equipment at all...I want to edit some footage recorded on a VHS tape in Vegas (if possible). I'm wondering what the cheapest way is to get this footage into Vegas in order to do this. Right now, all I have is a VCR, a VHS tape w/ some footage on it, and a computer w/ Vegas (firewiree, usb2.0). Is this possible? Is there a cheap way to do this? I appreciate any ideas out there...

thanks

Look for a WinTV-GO card. I got one in OfficeMax for about $60 a few years back and it should be cheaper now. It has NTSC composite video input and will capture to either AVI or MPEG (AVI is vastly more recommended than MPEG). The next step up from that card is the Win-TV-Theatre which includes stereo audio and AM/FM tuning for about $10 or $20 more.

What video card do you already have in your computer? Several of them come with composite video in/out already built in. If your card is an ATI, you may be able to add their daughterboard card to it to add the video in/out.

Dirt cheap? Find a friend who already has the necessary hardware and buy him a cup of coffee ;)

thanks for the tips...I have a geforce4 440 mx dual vga card...last i looked, it had no inputs on it,...but to be honest, I haven't paid close attention...

the wintv-go card sounds like a possibility...especially since its going for less than $25 or so on ebay right now...

Thanks for the help!
