You guys might be interested in reading this:

To give you a taster:

"Hello!

I have a question for you video editors out there:

What improvements (if any) would you like to see in how vegas handles audio?

Some ideas are:

No improvements: too much audio for me right now anyway!

Ability to capture 4 channels of audio (from VIDCAP)"...

It's a Sony Engineer asking the video guys in their forum what audio features they think Vegas needs, which I find a little perturbing. I mean, what's the future of this app? Are Sony themselves perhaps confused? Why have we recently got a bunch of posts from SonyPCH, SonyEPM and this guy across the Vegas and Acid forums effectively asking where their apps should be heading? It worries me a little - surely they should know? I definitely don't like the line "What improvements (if any) would you like to see in how vegas handles audio?". I'm still hoping they're thinking about taking the audio features of Vegas and merging them with Acid. Would certainly make sense to me.

I really hope Sony's not suddenly having second thoughts about the audio side of things. Almost feels to me as though someone 'up above' has asked them to put some feelers out. Very weird...

It would be great to ever know the vision these guys have, but I suspect its constantly changing.

I wouldnt worry, theyve gotta appease the video guys or they wont have any money to waste on us audio guys. Vegas has been picking up some MAJOR kudos lately on video mags and forums. Rejoice, Peter and dave wont abandon us

I'm not worried at all. It only makes sense that the video production people might have audio needs that are different than the audio side.
For example, not too many people here ever seem to ask for Vegas to be able to open AC3 files, but I can see the video guys asking for it.
Also, since they're not audio-centric, there may be features/options that improve their work flow.

No need to worry Ben. Matt, who posted that thread is one of the audio centric engineers for Vegas. He's just trying to get feedback from the video users, to see what their needs are as far as audio. Vegas is a "multimedia" app, which means it has needs for video users, audio users, and those who do both. Sony is currently brain storming, to try and see where different users workflow can be improved and try to implement things that will make ALL users happy. There's been a couple posts by Dave, Peter, and Matt looking for users feedback focusing on certain areas, and users current workflow methods and where they might feel limited. If anything, we should be very pleased because they're getting a general consensus, of how things could be improved in Vegas from the users viewpoint. Myself and other primarily audio users have also been directly contacted by Peter and Matt (who are on the audio centric feature design for Vegas), asking for similar feedback recommendations.
