you seem to be extremely knowledeable and talented..I have a few questions for you:

1) Do you do this for a living? ie. either shooting short films, weddings, video editor....etc...
2) What camera do u use? which is the best for personal use...?
3) What are the specs of your computer? what works best for editing video?
4) Did you attend film school or training of any sort?

HA!

You're gonna be really disappointed. ;)

1) I'm a computer techie guy. I sit in a little back room all day fixing fellow employee's computers, installing their software, training them, answering their questions all day, and in general making sure that when someone in the company needs a computer to do their job, that computer is there and ready to go. I've probably made less than $1000 on video in my whole life. Audio, on the other hand, i've been doing as a sideline for over 38 years and i'm quite proficient at it.

2a) My camera is a Panasonic PVDV900, which is a nearly bottom of the line consumer model. I use it because it was the one i could get my hands on at the time and afford. I like it a lot better than the JVC my church bought, but i don't remember which model that one is.

2b) What's best for pro use? Part of me says i wouldn't have a clue because i couldn't afford anything pro. But the real answer is, whatever you can use to satisfy clients. If you can get the job done with a palmcorder and have the client happy to pay you for it, you're a pro.

3) Right now i'm using a 2.66GHz Celeron. I've got 768MB RAM, 440GB drive space, using the Intel onboard graphics and sound. For good editing you want the fastest processor you can afford and lots of drive space. RAM helps too, but not much.

4) Aside from a few 8mm (not 8mm tape either) sessions in high school art class back in the late 70's, nope. Most everything i know about this stuff i've learned either through experimentation, reading the manuals, or reading this forum.

'welcome!!

"I'm a computer techie guy. "

...and Chienworks implicitly answers a question I'd had in the back of my mind for some time now -- is it a "he" Kelly or a "she" Kelly? (For some reason I'd always assumed "he", but didn't know for sure...)

Anyway, I'd also like to just add a note of Chienworks appreciation herel. Thanks, Man! I know you spend a good bit of time in the regular Vegas forums, with the big boys, so I always appreciate the fact that you come down to the basement here to check on the kiddies on a regular basis. Thanks for sharing your expertise.
