"Chinese" Movies? Why?

I am the cameraman/video tech at our church in Statesboro, GA. I have been videotaping every Sunday (missing only one or two). I have been trying every week (since early in September last year-2006) to create a usable DVD for our church to duplicate along with the cassettes & CDs we already duplicate.

To date I haven't created one with a Sony product. Sony always creates a "Chinese" movie for me (i.e. audio/video tracks out-of-sync due in some way to the paralax effect of 29.97 fps to 30 fps.)

I have successfully created in sync DVDs with MyDVD9/Roxio and other "average Joe-on-the-street" software, but if I have spent the money that I have to purchase Sony products, then I think that it's time to be able to have a consistent return on my investment.

I am upset & the name of BBB has danced across my mind...Please help me!!!!!!! I am totally self-taught. Didn't have time nor money for retraining classes during this mid-life transition.

Thanks! Stan :)

You mention 29.97 vs. 30fps. Usually this shouldn't be an issue at all. Vegas handles mismatched frame rates perfectly well, as long as it's told what the actual frame rates are. How are you getting the video into Vegas? What is your capture method/hardware? What are you using to record the video with?

Do you see the sync problem in preview while editing or only after burning finished DVDs?

Upset? BBB? Have you actually asked Sony for assistance before letting your blood boil over? I can assure you that the majority of VMS users have not had gobs of training and are not having synch problems.

Have you tried creating short clips as a test? If so, do they work OK? Does it start off in synch and then slowly drift? Do you see the same results on all playback devices (DVD players)?

You should not be messing with framerates -- VMS will take care of that for you.

You need to explain in detail exactly what you are doing to create your video. Tell us everything you did from the moment you plugged your camera into your PC to the moment you clicked "Finish" to burn the DVD. It is very likely something quite simple.
