Choice of video card

Hi,
I want to speed up my computer with a new video card and need some help with making a choice. I have a common gaming card Geforce 8800 GT PCI-E 16x right now. Running on a 64 bit Vista ultimate , AMD 4 core Phenom 2.2 and 8gb of ram... In general I need support to find out how to make it run faster when editing video.

Regards
/Jimmy

Your 8800 is more than enough for your needs, The processor and RAM are the 2 biggest concerns for editing...Go with a i7core for the best increase in editing power....

Your choice of a video card is largely irrelevant in Vegas, because CUDA has not yet been implemented.

Get the most powerful CPU you can afford, and wait before upgrading your video card, unless you also do gaming.

HI, thnx for your help. It's confusing to get what really matters in the terms of making things run smoothly.

I have a new set up... wich I'm going to try for the first time today. Had some trouble with a defect Mobo so it took some time to get the pieces together.

As recomended:
i7 core 2.66 ghz, 12 gb fast ram, asus p6t deluxe v2 for over clocking, and a raptor for the system + two caviar black raid 0 for part s of the media and one singel disk 1 tb hitachi about the same speed as the blacks. I kept the Geforce 8800 GT...

Should do the trick, I HOPE ;-)

If you use Magic Bullet effects, you WILL see improvement with a better video card.

don't OC. check what software you'll use before you decide on the card. If it uses the GPU, look at what they recommend.
