Choppy film effect...

There is an effect I see from time to time where movement isn't slowed down or sped up, but it is "choppy" -- as if every other frame has been removed, yet there is no change in "speed". IOW, Someone walks across the room in the same amount of time as the "smooth" clip would take, but the actual visual "skips" frames.

I know I'm not explaining it well, but a good example is in the movie Rock Star, right after Mark Walberg falls down the steps...it's kind of a dreamy segment. If anyone has seen it or knows what I'm talking about, is there a way to do this that you know of in Vegas?

Thanks

Hi Jess,

You might try right-clicking on an event> properties: and find an "undersample" value that suits.

Also try playing with the film effects filter that has a jitter control, if you want a more jerky look, try breaking a small section of your video into small one or two frame events then using Pan/crop move the frame a tad off center and maybe tilt it a degree or two, then go back the other way. Don't over use. For a dreamy look use a small amount of blur. If you have the time to fool around, I would use one the AVI to JPEG tools, export a small section, mask the background of each still image in Photoshop or a similar application, then place back and just the background would be blurred. Also try changing the "Z" value just a bit from frame to frame with the 3D pluginpac. I would go for "dizzy" effect where as you change the "Z" prospective the subject would go in and out of focus.

You want somewhere around .12 on the undersample box.
