Choppy music 2nd time track is used???

This is 2 questions in one. Hopefully, someone can help.
1. I put a very percusssive audio track in my project to act as the bed for the video I'm doing. I split the track at the end of 16 measures in on a downbeat to add a massive reverb tail to end the intro. I wanted it to die out then restart the same audio track for the rest of the video. But when the second instance of the track plays, it's very choppy and drops out continuously. I don't get it. It plays perfectly the 1st time but when I start it over, it's unusable... Why might this be?
(I might add, this is a brand new PC. Intel I7 processor, 16GB of RAM, SSD for the OS, 2TB HDD for file storage. I wouldn't think (hope) the PC is the issue.)

2. On the track that I split, how do I add reverb to the last beat and get it to ring out past the end of the track? I can add it to the Master bus and get it to ring but if I put it on it's own track it doesn't ring out, it just ends when the track is over. I could automate it to just be sent to the reverb on the last downbeat before I split the track but I can't figure out how to do that either.

I'm not sure about the first issue, but I have a suggestion for your second issue.

Make a copy of the first audio track using only the audio that you want (i.e. edit out any audio after the beat on which you want to apply the reverb to). Add a length of silence after the selected audio but for a bit longer than the desired duration of the reverb. This way, the reverb will take place within the length of the audio clip.

You can use Sound Forge, Audacity, etc to do this ... or you could even use Vegas Pro itself. If using Vegas Pro you could achieve the same result by using "rubber banding" on the audio track (hit keyboard 'V' to create a blue volume band on the audio track), double-click on the blue line where you want to make your volume changes - that will no doubt be two points (which can be adjusted manually by dragging the mouse up or down - or by right-clicking the mouse), the first to maintain 100% volume and the second point just after that to dive the volume to zero. Allowing for the period of silence after the audio, select loop points on the timeline and then render to a new audio track using the render loop only selection. Again, you'll have a period of silence within the audio clip over which the reverb can take effect.

Cheers

Do you have any VSTs as Assignable FX or on the Master ? Putting a VST kills ASIO audio for me - choppy and playback displaced a half a second or so.

No, but I got it working by taking the clip out to Sound Forge and applying the reverb there.

AND, on a related note, when I came back in this morning and started working again, the audio on the 2nd track was working fine. I don't know what might have happened but I did go into my GPU and tweak the processor speed and memory clock a little so maybe that had something to do with it working today. Thanks for the suggestions!
