Choppy video playback while editing

I have had problems with choppy video while editing in Vegas Studio 9.0. I tried converting my videos from .mt2s to AVI & MPEG-2 files... no luck.

Can anyone shed some light on what I need to do? Perhaps my system can't work with video....

What type, speed, RAM do you have?

In preview, select preview(auto) and see if that helps.
