How does the Key look?

When I was struggling with Chromakey, I came across this article and instantly had success - I now follow the formula each time.

The keyed footage looks good. I have read the article on "how to" apply the effect(s)...my problem is I cannot see the unlying footage. I know I'm missing a setting somewhere but I can't figure it out.
Note: The keyed footage (top track) seems like it's trying to blend with the lower track.

Perhaps you've clicked on the "split screen view" button just above the preview screen and it's set to "FX Bypassed"?

..drag your cursor to the right of the slider, you should find an icon that will say compositing mode, switch it to source(Alpha)...

Did you apply the key as a Track FX?
Some earlier Vegas versions had a bug with transparancy of Track FX. It helped to move the Level Slider of the track just a little bit.

At least with Vegas 6.0c this bug is solved.

I have the top track (keyed) set as source alpha...no setting on the lower track. Should the Project Properties be set to Upper Field first or lower field first...or would this make any difference. Oh, and I did apply the alpha as an FX...first a bit of Chroma Blur, then the Chroma Key.

Upper or Lower Fields makes no difference here though if you're working with DV footage it must be Lower.

As what kind of FX. As MediaFX, as EventFX or as TrackFX???

If it is used as TrackFX - try what I suggested. Just move the Track Level slider a little bit.
