Chroma Key Residual Rectangle?

Francis_Fogbound wrote on 3/26/2012, 11:37 AM
Just spent an afternoon getting to grips with a particular application of Chroma Key to get a brochure to float over a background, using the simplest application details. In every case I am left with a residual rectangle of green screen in the preview screen. Is this a feature, to illustrate where the background has changed, or a bug, allowing the background to leak?

This is just a guess, but you haven't been using the "Copy to Clipboard" option in the preview window, have you? Edit: All you need to do is have "FX Bypassed" selected & preform a "click and drag" on the preview window.

Jerry,

It is likely the "Split Screen" button toggled on (just to the left of the "Preview (Half)" legend in your example.

I think the Split Screen feature, in addition to the default of using one half of the screen or the other to see the output with effects disabled, will let you click and drag a rectangle for the "no fx" portion of the output. I don't recall if you have to select this from a dropdown, or if it just happens automatically if you click and drag in the output window with the Split Screen button toggled on.

Tim L is correct, if "FX Bypassed" is selected, then all you need to do is click-and-drag and you'll show the green screen rectangle.

What was I thinking? Getting old I guess.

Brilliant! many thanks, I had not noticed that the split screen was selected and you are right, it shows the rectangle. So pleased this is not a bug as I had been clocking up many happy hours with 595 running steadily!
