ChromaKey lighting question

This is more of a camera or lighting problem, but I thought you guys may have run into the same issue and could maybe help. My camera is a Canon HF100.

I use a green bedsheet for my greenscreen. I have it lit with two 500w halogen work lamps, one on each side, I think the lighting is pretty even with no shadows.

My subject is about 4 feet away and lit with a 250w light as the key light, 150w as the fill, and 100w as a backlight, again no shadoes.

Here's the problem. When the subject is in the frame, the chromakey effect works great, but when the subject moves out of the frame, I notice the greenscreen gets brighter (as viewed on the cameras display, or in movie studio once I run it on there). So, as the movie runs, the greenscreens brightness keeps changing depending on where subject is standing, and it's impossible to key.

The only way I can get it to work right is to set the exposure to -2 or more, which makes everything a little darker.

I think the problem is my greenscreen is too bright and the camera is reading it as "white" and adjusting.

Very weird. What's going on here?
