Cineform clips blacks out in VMS 10

I'm using Cineform NeoScene to transcode my 5D mkII-files, and it works very well.
The files play very smooth in Vegas compared to Avid DNxHD, but on a project I'm working with that has a lot of clips I have experienced some problems with files that go black in the timeline.

Sound is still there, but the clip i black.
Restarting Vegas fixes it for some time, but the files suddenly starts falling out again, both in the timeline and in the media bin.
I've tried rendering a clip with some of the "black" clips, and they turn out fine, but it's really annoying to have to close and open vegas to fix it.

I'm running Windows 7 on a HP nc8430 with C2D T7200, 4GB ram and ATI X1600.

Is there any fix for this?

This is a known bug, but I don't expect it to get it fixed. It exists on Pro 10 too. I had submitted it months ago, but a work-around was found, so I really don't expect it to get fixed.

So, the problem was collision with other third party AVI codecs. In my case, that was the Matrox AVI intermediate codec. Search for your other third party AVI codecs that you might have installed in the past, and uninstall them. Eventually, as long as you leave in the system only the AVI codecs that came with Windows or Vegas, Cineform will work.

The bug is Vegas' btw, not Cineform's.

I uninstalled the Matrox codecs, and it seems better.
Only had one black clip since then.
I still have to use Avid codecs for a while until my latest project are finished, had some trouble with my Cineform licence after moving it to another computer.
DNxHD isn't playing very well om my old laptop, so i'll remove it as soon as I can.

Read about the bug on your blog, but haven't had any trouble with it until now.

I really like Sony Vegas. I've tried Premiere and Final Cut for a few hours, but quickly went back to using Vegas.
What I don't like is that Sony don't seem to put much effort into update their software.

Using DNxHD as an intermediate, 8-bit 145 Mbs is more than sufficient for HD. With Media Properties matched, it previews "acceptably" on my lowly 2-cylinder notebook.
10 bit and 220Mbs is overkill, bigtime.

If he already owns Cineform NeoHD or NeoSCENE is a better deal to stay with Cineform instead of DNxHD. It's faster than DNxHD to both encode and decode, it's 10bit, and lower bitrate for the same quality. More over, the Cineform guys test with Vegas, while the Avid guys not only don't test properly their PC versions in general, but they don't actively add new features to the codec either. I personally only suggest DNxHD if the user does not already own Cineform, or doesn't have the money for it.

In this case, DNxHD does not collide with Cineform, since DNxHD is MOV, not AVI.

I have Cineform NeoScene, so I will stick to that as it works a lot smoother on my computer.

I moved my NeoScene license to another computer to transcode a lot of clips while editing on my laptop. I then deactivated it on the other computer, but must have forgotten one of the deactivation-codes, so i lost my licence in between.
Had to use DNxHD for a couple of days, and therfore I didn't take time to find the optimum settings, I just picked the highest quality.
