Cineform export issue in V9

I've noticed the following:

If I try to "render as" a straight Cineform clip on the V9 timeline to the same Cineform format it only works without recompression if I do not have any other tracks below the cineform clip on the timeline. If I have another clip on the timeline it has to render even though no effects or format change is taking place.

This does not happen in Vegas 8. This issue along with the bug preventing save as (trim media with project) when using Cineform files tells me something was broken in the way V9 deals with Cineform files and was never completely fixed when they got Cineform working again.

You're lucky. Smart-rendering isn't working for me at all. Not with Cineform, not with mpeg2, not with MXF.

Actually, not totally true. I saw a brief smart-render about a week ago, but just that once. I don't know what I did differently that time. I certainly haven't been able to do it again.

After reading your post, I thought maybe I was having the same problem. No dice. Even if a clip is the only thing on a timeline it won't smart-render.

It's pretty frustrating. Cineform looks fine after multiple renders, but I sure would like to save the time.

Laurence, I guess I should be happy :) Here's what I'm using in case you want to compare:

Cineform Neo HD
Project size in Vegas is 1920x1080i
Cineform Files are exported at 1920x1080i
