Cineform Products with Vegas 9

CClub wrote on 4/27/2009, 6:53 PM
I asked the question over on the DVINFO Cineform site regarding Cineform's compatibility with the expected Vegas 9 upgrade; I didn't see anything yet on this forum or the dvinfo forum yet.

I'm wondering if those of us still hanging onto Neo HDV will need to upgrade at this juncture. If anyone knows the answer to this or if I get a response on the other forum, feel free to reply here.

Did you put your question on http://www.dvinfo.net//conf/forumdisplay.php?f=76dvinfo/cineform[/link]?
Why not ask Cineform directly?

I posted it http://www.dvinfo.net//conf/showthread.php?t=234173Here already[/link]. No response, which is unusual for them as the guys from Cineform are quite good at monitoring that forum. I do know that they're knee-deep in upgrades.

Guess you now have that reply. Sounds like Sony is dragging again.

I think that this might have more to do with the NDA that beta testers have signed. I also posted this question in a few places, before I thought about the NDA issue and realized that none of the beta testers could respond.

What users should be concerned about is whether Vegas 9 is going to move from VFW to DirectShow as the main interface to codecs. Since there has been nothing said about this publicly, we will just have to wait until the formal release of Vegas 9. That said, there has been some rumors that the SDK for Vegas 9 has also been updated in a major way, so at least that's a good sign.

It would also be nice to know whether the 64 bit version of Vegas 9 will actually work correctly with Cineform, but there's been no hints of that either. Vegas 8.1 would read and write Cineform MOV files, but not AVI files.

Excellent. Sounds like it's time for me to install a 64 bit OS.

Cineform wants to write to the new Vegas 9 sdk so it will work at 10bit, at least that's what I've been getting from different posts around the net.

We have a very easier to use SDK, so we hope to have Sony help with the port. The good news is it looks like we will have 64-bit support even before we have a native implementation through the SDK.
