Cinematic Black Box

Vegas Pro 14

How do you apply cinematic black box to multiple clips simultaneously? I have attempted to add an empty event above all of the clips I want effected and then open up the event pan crop tool but it doesn't apply the effect to any of the clips. I am familiar with applying effects to multiple clips but the workflow doesn't appear to work when attempting to apply event pan crop settings to make the cinematic black box.

Thank you

Hi,

Create the effect using the pan and crop on the first event, select "copy" for that event then select all of the other events and select "paste event attributes".

Hope this helps.

Or use generated media, apply a mask to it and put it on a track above.

there's a free effect - Ignite Letterbox (link below) - you can apply that to an empty event on the top track, or just use a png with the black bars.

almost 100 free plugins (including letterbox) if you havent got it yet...  https://hitfilm.com/ignite-express

what i usually do - is just use one of those on the top track (you can also pan/crop on them is you need other aspect ratios)

The following site was highlighted a couple of years ago on this forum for a huge range of free png aspect ratio templates - it is still available:

Being png, they will work in Vegas or any other NLE for that matter that accepts png.

If you are showing on computer/tablet (not youtube/dvd/CD player) you can change the project properties to the desired res then render w/o bars.
