I've done a music video, shot on miniDV. I put a bunch of around 8 second clips together, with a one second fade to black at the end of one clip, followed by a one second fade from black into the next clip.
I added the "broadcast colors" filter to the output fx chain, and set it to clamp. It does a good job, except for that short span between clips when the screen is transitioning down to black and then back up. The histogram shows one or two lines down in the "below threshold" range. Is this expected, and if so, is it going to cause me problems when viewing on a TV set?
It may be my imagination, but when I rendered this to tape to may camcorder, then dupped it onto a VHS, that during these brief "all black" moments, the TV screen flared just a little.
BTW - You can watch the video at www.briancbarnes.homestead.com. Click on "All things Jackson", and the video is there. This version is a 6Mb .WMV. The music is from a CD that I own, so I don't think it's a problem to use it in a home video - anyone know for sure?
