Anybody know of a way to cleanly project a video so the media player is never visible?

Ideally the projected video would be: Black, the video, black

To work the player would either have to use the second display, like PowerPoint, or the desktop could be extended using a plain black background. Seems like a reasonable idea but I'm not finding much. Thanks.
