Clip identification

I am in process of learning Vegas. Question: When looking at thumbnails in the media pool, is there some way of telling which clips are on the timeline and which not? (ie, which are not used so I can delete them)

Is there a way of seeing the clip name on the timeline without opening a menu?

Is there a way of identifying a clip in the timeline from the media pool and vice versa?

If all you want to do is clean out the Media Pool, all you have to do is tell VV.

On, I think, Tools, there is such an option. It removes from the Media Pool anything that is not currently in use in your project.

Under Options/Preferences/General, put a checkmark next to Show active take name in events. Each event will now be tagged with the name of the file.

You can use Tools/Clean media pool to automatically remove all unused clips from the media pool. I would still like to see some sort of way to know which clips in the media pool are on the timeline or not though. I'd even like a feature where clicking on a clip in the media pool highlights wherever it's used on the timeline.

You and me both! You can also use the Edit Details view to easily tell which files are in use.

Rightmost button on the toolbar, hit the down arrow and select "Detailed." The "Use Count" column shows how many times that media is used on the timeline. Not visible in Thumbnail view.
