clip question

Hello to the smartest Vegas Pro editors I know! I have a questions. Here is my issue, files are imported and then dragged on to the timeline, you know how you can grab a clip and sometimes the curser on the clip might be in the middle of the clip, and then when the clip is dropped on the timeline, you only see the footage from that particular spot. Is there a way of locking the clips so that in the Project Media you cant scrub through it accidently and that this wont happen? Thank you in advance
