Clips turning green

A (sort of) solution to the 'clips on the timeline turning green and VMS crashing as a result' problem.
Clips that have been stabilised turn green when they lose focus and then are brought into focus again. This happens if VMS is minimised or another application is launched or the stabilised clip moves off the timeline and is brought back into view. Sony's possible solution to this doesn't work, ie uncheck the 'Close media files when not the active application' in Preferences. I've tried it.

Solution. If any clips on the timeline are to be stabilised, ensure that:
1. you finish editing the project before starting to stabilise any clips. Zoom in so clip lengths are not too small, start at the beginning and only move forward on the timeline. Do not go backwards if to do so means bringing a stabilised clip back into focus. It will immediately turn green and VMS will inevitably crash.
You will not be able to recover the backed up file because that will have green clips also,
2. you do not minimise VMS then maximise it whilst stabilising clips,
3. you do not launch any other application whilst stabilising clips,
4. you do not save the project then load it back in if it has stabilised clips.

This is how I get around the problem until Sony come up with a real solution.

Thank you for posting this!
OMG, what a disaster this stabilizer is, it drove me crazy, i had to start over several times until i realized it turns green the stabilized clips. I sent an email to sony, but of course nobody answered.
Forget that stabilizer, I tried on an awesome footage I filmed a skulk of dolphins when i was driving on California's coast, was so exited, but when i tried to stabilize it zooms in and it blurs, too bad...

The stabiliser isn't so bad but you have to know when you can use it.

I find it very useful for removing the very small erratic movements resulting from a hand held camcorder, especially if the shot is panned slowly.

It's absolutely no use for large, jerky movements and it's definately no substitute for a camcorder with a good optical image stabiliser.
