Closed captioning part deux

OK, I did a search in these forums and did not get an answer "can Vegas record CC information to tape." Guess it has been too long and now I can not get my commercial aired cause it it not CC. I know about the http://www.ccaption.com/ and enps, but these options are expensive. Someone know a less expensive way for us? (Hoping that Vegas would do it)

Vegas doesn't know diddly about line 21 VBI closed captioning. It can't read it; it can't write it; and I wouldn't be surprised if it strips it out. If you need line 21 closed captions, you'll need a different editing tool.

Which editing tool is reasonable that you use for this?

I wish I could tell you. I don't know of anything that works with Vegas. This software:

http://www.ccaption.com/

supposedly works with Premiere (heck, everything works with Premiere). It is $995, so you wouldn't buy it if you are just doing this once.

I got this from a post over in the Adobe forum:

Go to forum.doom9.org and search for "closed captions", you will find posts by a guy who frequents that forum (McPoodle) who writes some freeware tools for dealing with closed captions and translating the formats of various closed caption text files. His site and tools are available here.

Sorry I can't give you anything based on personal experience.
