Try Program Files\Sonic Foundry\Vegas 4.0\Video Plug-Ins. On my computer, there are a number of dlls in this folder.

if it is not installed - putting it in the plug-in folder is not likely to work ..

usually you install dll in system32 folder and register it using comandline RegSvr32

or use this tool http://www.free-codecs.com/download/DllRegSvr.htm

are you trying to encode or read these files ?

I think the codec must be installed in to windows since Media Player will playback the files.

Vegas does not see the video but the audio is there.

I wish to edit then encode the files to mpeg-2

you prob. will have to convert them first using virtualdub or avisynth to something else .. to bad you can not easly just frame serve them in ..
