CODEC Availabilty in other applications

I'm trying to find out how to access the Vegas Video SF CODEC with external programs in order to avoid recompressing in VV. For instance, if I create an animation in Cool 3D or another animation program, I would like to use the CODEC when creating an AVI. This goes for other programs as well. I can do this with my Canopus CODEC by selecting Canopus in the AVI options. When I select DV, the only options I have are type 1 or type 2. Is it possible, or is it locked to VV only.

Any clues to point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

Tom

Tom, i'm pretty sure i remember seeing someplace that it's locked into Vegas. I think it's intentionally unavaliable from other software.

if you render to a DV codec then you won't have to recompress in VV. it doesn't have to be SF DV. but do a quick test for compatibility before doing your whole render.

Only Vegas 3 can render to the SFDV codec.
Any app that can read a Microsoft DV .avi will be able to read a Vegas DV .avi.
