Yup. Vegas Pro 8.1 can ONLY use 64-bit video codecs which limits is usefulness severely since there aren't many of those around yet. :(

The codecs for MPEG2 & MPEG4 are identical (and 32 bit) in both Vegas 8.0c & Vegas 8.1. Vegas 8.1 spawns another program, FileIOSurrogate.exe, which allows it to use 32 bit codecs (at least those Video for Windows codecs licensed by SCS and included with Vegas 8.1).

Of course, this is a goofy way to implement 64 bit software, so there's no telling what's going on with Vegas 8.1.
