Codecs - Ogg, SHN, Lame, etc

Hi,

I was wondering if SF would consider adding a hook/interface in their products to allow direct use of third party audio compression DLLs such as SHN and the Lame Encoder. It would be nice if there was a dialog where one could make several mappings to external DLLs from within SF products. That way one can take advantage of new releases as they hit the net. Obviously, this would be an advanced feature but would be most useful. Currently, I have to exit an SF app an run some utiility to take advantage of SHN, Ogg V1, or Lame encoding.

BTW, will SF be updating their codecs to support the final release of Ogg Vorbis 1 just recently released? How will one know or be able to check this? Again, if there was an external mapping feature as I suggest, I could already be using the Ogg Vorbis 1 codec directly from SF products without having to wait for the next bug fix/update release from SF.

Thanks.

Am I missing something in your question? I already export from Vegas (Video v3c) into Ogg Vorbis direct from the 'render as' option. Works great.

Yes SF supports Ogg Vorbis, which is great, but they are using an earlier version of the encoding software because the final Version 1 was just released in the last couple of weeks. If you want to use the latest and greatest Ogg encoder, you have to use an external utility.
