Color anaglyph rendering...

I've done a search on this forum, and there doesn't appear to be much on the subject, so I guess I'll ask. Anyone have any advice on rendering a decent color anaglyph from high quality source material? More specifically, I've actually used POVRAY to create a left eye image sequence and a right eye image sequence. After that, I used VirtualDub to create left and right 24p uncompressed AVIs. Lastly, I used Stereo Movie Maker to combine these into a half color anaglyph (uncompressed 24p AVI format, obviously). So now I have a really sweet looking color anaglyph animation that will pretty much bring any machine to its knees because it's uncompressed. The question is: What's the best avenue for rendering? I'd really like to use mpeg2 (despite what I've heard), so I can author a DVD, but I'm unsure of the settings in this case to get reasonable results.

I also have another question, while I'm on the present topic: Since my source material is actually an animation, should one always use motion blur to get a more realistic result? If so, what kind of blur should be used and what level?
