color correction

I am using color correction for 8 mm film transfer. I am unable to find the right tool in video fx to correct poor focus correction .I am using color balance, and color corrector.
I have been advised not to use brightness and contrast.Can anyone help me ?

It's not really to correct poor focus. You can try to use unsharp mask (actually sharpens) but if the focus is off you're kind of stuck with what you have.
