Color correction VS Color Curves / Balance

Hello, could someone explain me the difference between Color Correction Tools and Color curves / balance tools ?

Vegas 3.0 seems to have nice color plugins but everyone says that the weakness of Vegas is the lack of Color Correction..
And now I see Vegas 4 has Color correction, how is it better than the ones already in vegas ?

Thanks,

Nat

Vegas already has EXCELLENT color correction filters. Some of the best of any application. This is one of the topics that is near and dear to me since I've spend lots of time knob twisting. I've shared some of what I discovered in my tutorials.

By latest experiements which I haven't written a tutorial for yet has ventured into animating color curves as you move through an event by treaking keyframes. This on top of setting up more basic correctons really gives you micro adjustments.

And in your opinion, what's the advantage of having some color correction in the style of Final Cut Pro or Avid Xpress DV (which version 4 will have) ?

Well... I haven't seen version 4 of Vegas since I'm not a beta tester nor have I tried Final Cut pro (Mac..yuck!) Avid... WAY, WAY over priced. So you tell me, what do they do that version three of Vegas doesn't with color correciton?
