hello:
I amusing vv3. I would like to do simple color temperature correction, where you can select color temperature and a filter will automatically adjust the settings. I have used that kind of filter for photographs. I donot see such a filter in vv3. Anybody knows of this tyoe of filter?
Version 3 doesn't have the type of color correction you are speaking of; version 4 does.
However, in 3 you have many correction tools, and learning to use the curves in connection with HSL and color balance will get you a long ways toward where you are going.
I was thinking simple color correction which use for my photographs in paint shop pro. This correction is what is apparently called white balance and I found works surprsingly well. The prionciple apparently is that if you average colors out you shoudl get a grey. Then in the software you choose a color temperature. I choose 6000 deg K and get pretty good results and it is very simple.
Are there any white balance fiters like that for vv3?
Like SPOT mentioned above you could use the HSL filter which is really three filters in one Hue, Saturation and Luminance. While not as good as the tools in V4, they work pretty nice. In fact when I started writing my tutorials I wrote the first several just using the simpler tools in version 3.
The one thing I would suggest is don't make too big a deal out of trying to find a middle netural point for that matter a white or black unless of course you know you have something very close in your video. I've seen more people mess up photos in Photoshop messing with the eyedroppers not knowing how to use them properly. Also while again not as good as the Color Corrector in V4, V3 has a nice 5 level slider type filter (Levels) which helps balance levels nicely. When used with color curves you can do OK.
